Nowy, amerykański dowódca tarczy antyrakietowej

Przekazanie obowiązków miało miejsce we worek w Słupskiej Szkole Policji, z którą Amerykanie mocno współpracują. Tym razem na uroczystość nie zaproszono mediów, a o wydarzeniu poinformowano po fakcie. Dotychczasowego szefa NSF Redzikowo capt. Scotta McClellanda zastąpi capt. Jon Grant.

Grant w ostatnim czasie pełnił obowiązki w Naval Information Forces West w San Diego. Wcześniej, między listopadem 2016 -2017 był głównodowodzącym NSF Deveselu, czyli działającej już bazy antyrakietowej w Rumunii.

Przypomnijmy, że to już trzeci z kolei szef budowanej wciąż tarczy w Polsce. Pierwszym, w listopadzie 2016 został capt. Rick Gilbert.
Amerykańscy dowódcy, tak jak i podlegli im marynarze, okrętowani są do służby pod Słupskiem na okres jednego roku. Zgodnie w pierwotnym harmonogramem baza Redzikowie powinna już działać. Nowe terminy oddania instalacji do użytkowania to 2020 rok. W Redzikowie ulokowany zostanie radar i wyrzutnie z antyrakietami rodziny SM-3.
